AWESOME SUMMER OPPORTUNITIES!!!!!!!
Take advantage of these amazing opportunities for this coming summer!

There are lots of scholarships available, don't let money problems get in your way!

Here are a few great programs to consider:
Hillel's Organic Farm Alternative Summer Breaks
Hillel, in partnership with the Jewish Farm School, will provide a total of 60 college students the opportunity to participate in a week-long farm-immersion experience. During the two programs, students will be volunteering on sustainable farms located on the East and West coasts.

Over the course of the week, participants will learn a wide range of skills in sustainable and organic agriculture such as planting, harvesting, natural building and composting. To complement the physical work, participants will have the opportunity to engage in texts and hear speakers discuss topics such as Jewish agricultural laws, medicinal herbs, and global food security. Students will gain exposure to the growing food justice movement, both within the Jewish and secular worlds.

Students will leave with a greater understanding of the complex issues surrounding sustainable food production and the necessary skills, knowledge and resources to affect positive change in their communities and on their campuses. For questions, please contact aborganic@hillel.org.  You can also visit www.hillel.org/tzedek  for more info!

Help Jordan Romm Raise Money for UVM Hillel!!

Hi everyone!

My name is Jordan Romm. I work in Residential Life here at UVM and I serve on the community Board of Directors for UVM Hillel. I have decided to run the Vermont City Marathon on May 25th as a fundraiser for UVM Hillel.

May 25th is also my 35th birthday, so I'm excited about celebrating that milestone with sore legs. I hope that my efforts to raise money will go a long way in supporting Jewish life here on campus and financially sustain the phenomenal efforts of the students involved with Hillel.

I know many of the students personally, and their energy and dedication to their Jewish community here on campus is infectious; however, as an organization, we continually find ourselves short of funding.

Please consider sponsoring my run in Burlington and in turn, please know that your generosity will go directly to supporting vibrant Jewish programming and inclusive community events at The University of Vermont.

Thank you all for your support!

Jordan Romm

Interested In Kosher Living??

There are currently spots available for living in the kosher cottages on North Campus.

APPLY TODAY!!!

Kosher Cottages, supported by Residential Life and Hillel, is a living option for students who wish to keep Kosher in an informal "home" kitchen environment.

Each Cottage will house 7-8 residents, and will be equipped with appropriate kitchen amenities to accommodate a kosher lifestyle. Most rooms are double occupancy and there are some singles.

Students living in Kosher Cottages will not be required to be on a campus meal plan. In addition, although these kitchens will be unsupervised, there will be minimum standards of Kashruth that all students and their guest are required to maintain as community members (i.e. non-kosher food will not be allowed into kitchens at any time), and residents will have the opportunity to set stricter standards by consensus, through the Residential Life "Community Standards" process.

Application Process:

· Application deadline: June 30, 2008
· For more information about the Kosher Cottages, please contact Hillel at 656-1145
