Hillel Fresh began in 2018 with the mission to create accessible, free meals for students to enjoy the local produce of our Vermont food system while celebrating Shabbat . After five years, it has flourished into an incredibly successful wide-spread program. Our goal is to combat food insecurity on UVM’s campus, make Shabbat dinner more accessible, and bring students together. We do this by offering free meal kits consisting of fresh, local ingredients; many ingredients come from our very own plot on the Catamount Educational Farm, which managed by our Seeds to Students interns throughout the summer, and all other ingredients are from local farms and businesses. The recipe changes with each Hillel Fresh box, so you can participate all year long! 

 

You can participate in Hillel Fresh in three easy steps:

1. Sign up for a Hillel Fresh kit when the RSVP form becomes available

2. Pick up your kit or get it delivered to your residence

3. Use our local, fresh ingredients to cook a Shabbat meal! Read our handouts, do the blessings over the bread and grape juice, and enjoy by yourself or with friends (or roommates! or family! or new acquaintances! The possibilities are endless).
